① "...My high school memories are very positive. Many classmates influenced my life in my adult years because they encouraged me or there was a healthy competition."

② "...I am a successful nurse manager in a teaching hospital in San Francisco. Last year I was invited to tour China as a "citizen ambassador" nurse, nominated from the SF Bay Area as an identified role model in the nursing profession. For 2 weeks I toured hospitals and clinics in China, discussing health care with my Chinese counterparts. It was a fascinating, enriching experience and I love telling stories."
Lois (Arroyo) Trice
① "... I think Mr. Daugherty in Psychology and Mr. Lynch in English were both big influences in my career in special education (for 23 years). They both taught me that as people, we're more like each other than different. I enjoyed going to both of their classes."

② "... Bill and I have been married thirty years (this past) June 30. The Lord blessed us with two children and three perfect grandchildren, ages 1,2,and 3. We're busy... We enjoy camping, (I'm writing this at the Rogue River at Union Creek in Oregon - it's beautiful), backpacking, skiing, hunting, and fishing with friends and family."

③ "...I can't wait to see old classmates. We were all touched by the 60s in different ways. And now, we're facing the year 2000! We pray for our children and grandchildren everyday - it seems they have a harder road to go than we did."
Peggy (Coleman) Coons
② "...My 2 sons, Rob & Chad, live near me in Reno. Rob graduated from CVHS in '88, and Chad in '92. We are very close and I see them often - they're wonderful!"
Tom Dirks
① "...I will always remember the late Mr. Spetz. He made me realize that not only was math not as tough as I always felt, but that it was fun! I was very depressed when I went back to CVHS years later to visit him and found out that he had passed away."

② "...Sue and I just had our 26th anniversary. We have two great kids, a daughter, 21, attending SJSU, and a son, 18, a senior at Benicia High School playing baseball against Don Rath's -son at CVHS!"

③ "...if we had 'grown up' before the 60s, we would be even more naive to the drug problems of today and even less help to our children."
Valerie (Dussault) Holmstrom
① "...I know that the reunion will once again be great and I hate to miss the festivities."

② "...My middle son, John, is going to Paris with his church youth group for World Youth Day. Their departure date coincides with the reunion, and being a silly old mom, I feel that plane can't take off without my presence at the departure gate..."
Janice (Emerson) Watley
① "...Mr. Byson for English, he made reading and grammar interesting and fun. I enjoy reading books of all types to this day and I owe a lot of it to him. I wish he could know what a good influence he had on me."
Ross Eversole
② "...I have built a car for this reunion - I wish I had this car in 1967!"
Kathy (Findlay) Davis
① "...when our senior English class removed all the chairs and teacher's desk from Mr. August's room at Brunch- when he walked in, we were all sitting on the floor - he grinned and just went ahead with the class...having such fun times in the KVHS radio station...being influenced by so many great teachers - Miss Edwards, Mrs. Eusebio, Dennis Bledsoe, Mr. Spencer... and unforgettable times with unforgettable friends."

② "...I found it to be a very small world when 5 or so years ago, I discovered that one of our high school classmate's (Merritt Capossela) daughter was in my 6th grade class in San Jose!"

③ "...Wish I'd saved all those psychedelic, artistic posters from the Fillmore and Winterland! Seriously though, the 60s provided me with a very solid foundation for life: a loving, supportive family; a well-balanced education; the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of a trip after graduation to Europe, with all of its firsts, with my 'best friend' Sue; and friendships with Barb Rubino and Linda (Evola) Frost that started at CV and continued as roommates at SJSU, which have lasted through the years:"
Paul Hermann
① "...leaving the office of Student Body V.P. because the Administration went back on its word to me after I made their commitment the basis of my nomination and election platform which got me elected...Two people (had a major influence on me)- Mr. Bell, the Physiology teacher, as I was very involved in the sciences, and Mrs. Grogan, my counselor, who was at my son's wedding reception this past month. She's still going strong - wish she could be at the reunion..."

② "...two boys, 25 and 27, both married this year in May & June... I've been married 29 years, still living in Contra Costa County."

③ "...made me more aware, more questioning, more attentive to life - became more pro-active rather than reactive."
Larry Kanagaki
① "...going undefeated in wrestling for 2 years...Mr. Lynch helped me become a better writer in English. Thanks to him, I have earned Masters Degrees in Physical Ed., Education with an Administrative Credential and my MBA."

② "...teaching for 20 years- 3 loving children: Sheri- 9, April- 6, and Georg- 2, and my wife Misa of 11 yrs."

③ "...We lived in a very difficult time and I learned a lot from that experience to help my students succeed in reaching their goals."
Martha (Kinsey) Englander
① "...I was greatly influenced by living overseas for a year (freshman). That helped me to realize that everyone doesn't do things the same way. It made me understand the importance of diversity."

② "...My life is pretty good right now. I've got two great kids and three grandkids. I've got a fairly stable job. I have lots of fun, take nice vacations a couple times a year, and recently got my pilot's license."

③ "...the 60s made me realize the importance of being an independent thinker, with the emphasis on thinker."
Stephanie (Kriner) Roisman
① " ... favorite teacher was Mr. Lynch."

② "...RN in Critical Care for 16 yrs. at Mt. Diablo Med. Center...married 14 yrs...1 son, Jonathan, 7 yrs. old...can't believe 30 years have passed - can still remember high school...very best friend since h.s. - Linda Bacciglieri Davi."
Tom Lockyer
① "...teacher that influenced me the most - Mr. Zino... Bob Sherman (recently) sent a picture of the "Group" that was such an important part of my high school life. I have thought, often, about all of you. We had some interesting times together and I'm sure everyone of you have some great stories and lives to tell about and share. I would love to hear from any and all of you."

② "...the most significant event in my life was meeting and marrying my wife in 1969...at the U. of Utah and we've been together since. Kathy and I taught at Concord High for some 10-11 yrs. before Prop. 13 forced us to make a change. We spent the next 11 yrs. in Germany teaching and later administering in American schools on the military bases. In particular, we spent ten years at Ramstein AFB. We had great opportunities to travel and see that part of the world during great times of change in Europe, Russia, the Mediterranean, and other Eastern Bloc countries. When our son graduated from high school and came back to the States to go to college, we decided it was time for us to come home, too...Currently, Kathy is the principal at one of two high schools here in Helena, Montana, and I'm the superintendent of the school district in East Helena. I can honestly say that I didn't anticipate doing what I'm doing today, 30 yrs. ago. I would imagine that those who knew me wouldn't have thought so either. We all open our educational packages at different times... Our 25 yr. old son found out on his 21st birthday that he had a brain tumor in his nasal cavity and went through a 26 hr. operation in Denver, where they basically removed his face to get at the tumor...has had gamma knife treatment earlier this year, but is doing quite well... and is currently in the PGA program as an Assistant Pro in Clarkston, Idaho...we consider ourselves to be very blessed and lucky. We enjoy Montana, the outdoors, and are avid golfers. At times (winter), we miss the climate in CA. We just finished building our home on 20 acres in the Helena valley...We have plenty of room and would enjoy entertaining any of you in your travels this way. I would love to reminisce, listen, and catch up on the past 30 yrs. It has been a long and busy time...I sincerely regret not being able to attend the reunion. Though I haven't made any to date, it is not because you aren't in my thoughts. Enjoy a wonderful time and opportunity."
Mike Maguire
① "...how Mr. Webbenhurst could turn an algebra flunky into a functional math student. I came to CVHS with a D-- and a very poor self-image. I understood what he taught, worked back to the advanced stream, and ended up majoring in Engineering in the university...memories centering on cross-country & track experiences - I was never a star like some, and workouts were tough - but there were the friendships... the special times like when friends came to Pittsburg to watch us run and I turned in my personal best in the two mile run. I remember mud football games after school..."

② "...We moved to Canada 5 yrs. ago and live in Deep River, a small town of 5,000 people...closest metro area is Ottawa, about 140 mi. away...Charlene and I have been married 26 years...I work for AECL (Atomic Energy of Canada) on corrosion and hydrogen ingress of reactor pressure tubes... my oldest son Seth, 23, works and goes to University in Ottawa, studying computer science; Keith, 21, goes to Waterloo Univ., studying environmental science; Anna, 18, has a year of high school left -in Ottawa, h.s. goes through grade 13; my youngest Brent, 11, is in middle school...We were in the Concord area last summer drove from Deep River, 6,000 mi. r.t. - drove by old CVHS, yes we did."

③ "...the 60s just were. They were experiences I could caution my kids about. They were also full of music which my kids still play today."
Bob McEachran
① "...goal posts appearing one morning on the lawn in front of the library, and totem poles being 'borrowed' from Ygnacio Valley High School. Seems the administration deprived us of 'brunch' on these days and the nickel cinnamon rolls..."

② "...my wife Tami & I have a 4 1/2 yr. old daughter named Audrey. After years of a somewhat nomadic lifestyle, we settled in...Concord! Also, our classmate Ron Borba married my sister Caryn, and they live in Concord as well!"
Jane Mobley
① "...I have only attended one reunion before, ten years ago, and am very excited about being able to be at this great celebration once again."

② "...my youngest son Anthony, drowned on his 21st birthday, less than one month after my mother's death (from bone cancer)...in 1995."
Pamela (Morgan) Boehm
① "...one school-planned ski trip gave me the opportunity to make a treasured friend in Sue Nystrom and also got me hooked on skiing... Mr. Trueblood (Drama), Mrs. Bledsoe (English), and Miss Shelly (P.E.), gave me the freedom to 'shine', which helped me develop more than book-learned facts! A valuable gift!"

② "...I'm married with a dog (no kids) and we just finished building a new home on 6.8 acres in Colorado. My husband Dave works at UPS, I work as an extra in movies and commercials in the CO area. Life is good! ...Right after high. school, I started traveling. I went to Alaska, Japan, and Korea. From that point, I went on to work as a nanny, horsegroom (racetracks), then down to Las Vegas to work with an aerial acrobat group and that was just the start of the diversity. I then settled into 11 yrs. of dealing blackjack in South Lake Tahoe and Reno..."

③ "...the 60s helped me to see that for 'myself', life didn't have to get bogged down with 'have to' and 'serious stuff'. The good and bad could work together, and I could balance it out my way. It's been a great life so far and there's more to come11"
Lynn (Nottingham) Karzas
① "...working on Clayton - Small But Proud, the book we did in summer school. I really enjoyed that."

② "...my husband and I have 2 sons, Lance and Kevin. John works for Inland Steel Co. and I work at the Community Hospital in Munster, IN. For the last 5 yrs., we have started going on cruises - we went for 2 wks in March -wonderful vacation!"

③ "...I "blossomed" a little late, my friend and I went to 2 Grateful Dead concerts about a year before Jerry died..."
Carla (Ostler) Kent
② "...living in southern CA, I feel like I have kind of lost touch with most everyone."
Bob Peterson
① "...many memories from high school, most of them are happy, but one sad one I'll never forget. Most people our age remember where they were when Kennedy was killed and we were freshmen at CVHS. I remember being told by Coach Maramonte at the end of Gym class and then walking to Mr. Cox's Social Studies class while the corridors were full of kids crying and shouting. Mr. Cox was in tears... I took Math Analysis from Mr. Woolum my senior year. He taught us the concepts behind Calculus so well that I just sailed through my early math classes at university. I still use some of the problem solving methods he taught us..."

② "...After I graduated from CVHS, I went to UC Berkeley, getting my BS in engineering-physics in 1971. From there I went to the U. of Illinois, after a little time in the Navy, and got my PhD. in physics in '78. Since then I have worked at the U. of Wisconsin in Madison, where I met my wife Marie. We have 3 kids, ages 13, 11, and 8. My work has to do with Fusion Energy and I spend my summers doing that at Los Alamos National Lab. in New Mexico. I also work with people at Lawrence Livermore (and Berkeley) National Lab, which allows me to get back to CA. from time to timP...I've lost touch with most of my friends from high school."

③ "...for me, the 60's experience was over-rated. At Berkeley, I saw a lot of the campus unrest that the 60s were famous for, and it got old fast. I saw activists on both sides manipulating the situation to their personal advantage, while the students, faculty, and young men facing the draft ended up paying the price. Therefore, I enter the 21st century suspecting anyone's simple solutions to complex problems."
Dean Reed
① "...being on a co-championship JV football team my junior year...three teachers I remember - Miss Edwards, she helped me in a lot of ways; Coach Fogelstrom - the JV football coach; and Cass, as we all called him in class, the mechanical drawing teacher."

② "...being married to a great lady from Pittsburgh H.S...when I was in high school, I never would believe where I am now - being a Union Officer for Shop Iron Workers Local 790. I was elected as vice-president. I have been a union officer now for the past 12 yrs."
Robert Scoles
② "...Barbara and I have a 6 1/2 year old granddaughter. We spend our spare time bicycle riding, kayaking on Monterey Bay, and volunteering with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society...I'm a sergeant with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Dep't.(12 years)...In July...returned from a 24 day tour of Alaska and the Yukon Territory."
Bob Sherman
① "...as a sophomore, I came home and told my Dad I had made the varsity football team...I'll never forget the look on his face... The assassination of President Kennedy was an event that saddened me very much."

② "...I've had a good life, so far. I'm thankful that I never used drugs or cigarettes, thereby possibly becoming addicted...I have 2 great kids...started backpacking and rock climbing in '75. I have learned to respect the power of Mother Nature. That's the only time in my life that I thought I was going to die. Storms in the Sierras can be awesome...learned how to use a USGS map and compass to navigate my way on a 50 mi. cross-country snowshoe trip...It's a good feeling when things go as planned and you have perfect weather as I had on this trip...If you pack long enough, you may have an accident like I had on a backpack trip in '83...took 33 hrs. and 2 Forest Service crews to get me off the mountain to a waiting helicopter... multiple skull and facial fractures, lucky for me, nothing life threatening."

③ "...the 60s were a simpler time, also a time for trying things - rebellion, war, protest, and assassination. Those were the carefree days of my youth, when I thought I knew the rules and laws in America..."
Terri (Waterman) Morean
① "...Ann Grogan had a major influence in my life. Her Califomnia History class was where I met my husband Doug. I was a sophomore and he was a senior and she seemed to favor Doug just a little bit. We had a great time in that class, too bad it was so short..."

② "...I married my high school sweetheart. On July 29, we were married 30 years (wow)! I have 2 wonderful children, 24 yr. old Michael and 21 yr. old Lori....I've been a teachers' aide for Special Ed. for over 10 yrs. I really love my job - it's a lot of work, but very rewarding also."

③ "...the 60's experience helped prepare me to better understand my children and what they felt, and peer pressure, too. It seems some things just don't change."
Bill Wine
① "...bloody noses and bruises in freshman football...muddy football fields and long, hot marches as a member of the marching band...the thrill and excitement of `opening night' as a participant in term plays... Two teachers whom I felt closest to were Bill Trueblood (Drama) and Bruce Byson (English/Speech). My major in college was Speech with a minor in Drama, so perhaps these men were more of an influence than I ever realized."

② "...in my 20s and 30s I enjoyed the high mountain adventures of camping, hiking, and winter sports. With my love for the wild blue, it seemed natural that I eventually found myself in the pilot seat of small airplanes. Throughout those years, I was very active in various Masonic organizations in which I have held a number of leadership positions. Now when time permits, I surf the Internet, maintain my own home page, and administer a Forum on CompuServe. My zest for adventure is still keen, but it has become far more refined."

③ "...although I never raised a family, I believe the 60's experience has given me a better appreciation and understanding of what drives the young people of today. Packaging has changed, but the content is basically the same. To each generation comes a unique way of expressing themselves."
Barbara (Worth) Rush
① "...when Miss Cartwright had us sing 'The Impossible Dream' at graduation. That has stuck with me through the years and I've never turned my back on a challenge or given up on doing the right thing... I wish I had had more respect for everybody. I missed being friends with so many wonderful people as I focused on only a few. We were fortunate to go to high school in a clean, safe and civilized place..."

② "...I married my high school sweetheart after college. We have been married almost 26 yrs. now, and he is still very much my 'sweetheart'. We have had a wonderful life together. We left for our trip to Europe in Jan. of '75. We spent 4 months in Europe. We rented a car in Paris and went everywhere - including Eastern Europe. We visited our foreign exchange student, Nicole, and her husband Henri and their 2 children in Nice at her parents' house. After our trip, Jon accepted a job with the company he had been working with in SF, but the location of this job was in Montana. We had wanted to move to the Pacific Northwest, but Montana seemed a bit far. We knew we were 'home' that sunny October day, when we drove into Helena. I'd never seen a sky so blue, or smelled air so fresh. We have raised 2 really wonderful children here. John has walked to work most of his career, and I teach 10 min. from the house. Each season has its own special activities here - like getting the tree at Christmas, picking apples in the fall, and taking our boat out in the summer. Our story is far from complete. As I write this, I realize how much in the middle we are."

③ "...as for the 60s - I think we were a disaster. We thought we knew so much and we knew nothing. I've come to understand what tradition, heritage, patriotism, and moral discipline mean to a culture. It's our fault society has ended up where it is today, and many times I am not proud of it. I think we have a lot of backtracking and repair to do."
